We are not all children of God and Jesus taught no such thing. He said to the Pharisees, "Ye are of your father the devil" (John 8:44) When speaking to His apostles, He said about His betrayer Judas, "Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil." (John 6:70) He told the Pharisees on another occasion, "Woe to you scribes and Pharisees. You travel sea and land to make one convert, and when that happens you make a child of hell twice as much as yourself." (Matthew 23:15) Clearly in just these few examples, we see that Jesus was teaching that there were some who were not God's children. If we are all God's children Jesus would not have said, "Unless a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." (John 3:3) If are all God's children Jesus would not have said, "Unless ye repent ye shall all likewise perish" (Luke 13:3,5) If we are all God's children Jesus would not have said, "Whosoever therefore shall deny Me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 10:33) If we are all God's children Jesus would not have said, "Then shall He say also to them on the left hand, Depart from Me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels" (Matthew 25;41) If we are all God's children Jesus would not have said "And these shall go away into everlasting punishment" (Matthew 25:46) If we are all God's children Jesus would not have said " For as the Father hath life in Himself; so He given to the Son to have life in himself; And hath given Him authority to execute judgement" (John 5:27) If we are all God's children Jesus would not have said , "the rich man also died, and was buried; And being in hell he lift up his eyes being in torments...And cried...I am tormented in this flame." (Luke 16:22-24)
If we are all God's children Jesus would not have said, "Ye are from beneath; I am from above; ye are of this world; I am not of this world. I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am He, ye shall die in your sins." (John 8:23-24) If we are all God's children Jesus would not have said of Himself, "He that believeth on [Me] is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not belived in the name of the only begotten Son of God." (John 3:18) If we are all God's children Jesus would not have said, "Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell." (Matthew 23:33) If we are all God's children Jesus would not have said "He that is of God, heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God." (John 8:47) The list is endless in the gospel accounts of Jesus teaching over and over again that not all are of his sheepfold, that not all are God's children but instead are children of hell and damnation and of the devil. He also clearly taught if you want to be a child of God you have to go through Him and no one else: "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father but by Me." That is pretty straight forward and Jesus uses no inclusive type language that might hint at the possibilty of there being multiple ways to God the Father. Read the Gospel accounts. When it came to eternal life Jesus didn't point to anyone that came before Him nor did he point to anyone that was going to come after Him. As a matter of fact, he taught that the Scriptures of the Old Testament directly pointed to Him: "Search the Scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of Me." He didn't say they testified to Bhudda or Confucious, or Allah, or Mohammed or any one else. He said they "testify of Me!" He then goes on to say, "For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed Me: for he wrote af Me." Once again Jesus direct our attention back to Himself and no one else. Before He ascended to heaven from the Mount of Olives, the parting words He gave to His apostles were: "Ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." (Acts 1:8) Jesus wasn't telling them to be witnesses for somebody else who was to come after Him. They were to be witnesses for him because He clearly taught that He is the only access to heaven and to God (John 14:6) There is forgiveness and eternal life for all who come to Jesus with a repentant heart and receive Him as Lord and Savior, not as merely a prophet . Jesus never offered that option to anyone. He presented Himself as the only Savior of the world. We must all bow before Him as such or suffer the very damnation which he warns of.

I think I should take you to Morocco with me, Mike. LOL. I learned a lot about minimalism there. The Berber Nomads always amazed me in my travels. They can live off of a few dates that they picked from the palm trees and drink goat's milk (because water is scarce in the desert). They don't use technology.

I have to send someone to the desert to pass messages along to my guy because he doesn't have a phone or the internet. Even posting mail to him out in the middle of the Sahara doesn't work. I have to send an actual person to send messages between us...and that's still a 4-days journey each way between going there and getting back to email me what he said.

He sleeps outside under the stars and is completely content with that life. There are no worries whatsoever. The Muslims in Morocco wake up each morning not worried about feeding the family, taking care of the bills, etc., because they believe that whatever happens, God will take care of them. They work hard and do things the way God wants them to. God will take care of them and reward them based on the acts that they perform with love.

They don't seek out more than what God has given to them. If he doesn't provide, then they look within and think that they will have to do better the next day to make God happy so that he will provide for them. In other words, if they have no food or water, it's their fault and God is not happy with them. They have to work extra hard to make God and everyone around them happy. {It is a pay it forward kind of society.}

That's another thing...in the Western World, we focus too much on the shell of our being...how much we make, where we live, what kind of place we live in, what kind of foods we eat or restaurants we dine in, what kind of clothes we wear, how we style our hair, whether we're thin or beautiful...too much emphasis is based on commercialism and being beautiful. Those things are the shell of our being. They're not who we are on the inside.

It took me a long time to find someone that fell in love with my soul, and not my shell. I needed someone to see me for me...I needed someone to fall in love with my soul...I found that in Morocco. Everyone there looks at your soul first before noticing what you look like on the outside.

In the Western World, we hide the soul and douse it down with layers that surround us...thus, becoming our shell. We then become the shell and forget our soul.

The shell is not what matters in life. It's your soul. The beauty is inside...not on the outside. It's your soul you take with you when you die...not your shell. So your focus should always be on your soul, never your shell. After all, it's your soul that answers to God, not your shell...so you should always make effort to make your soul as beautiful as possible...and that requires a lot of God's love, happiness, and good works.

Do you at least have a closet with some clothes there? Haha. We pretty much live with the basics. I don't agree that all t.v. is a waste or that you don't need at least one phone for security reasons. I don't text message either (that's why we have VM and e-mail). You can get discounts from most places of employment through Sprint. Lifeline also offers a reduced or free plan for people with Medicaid/other health needs for home or cell. We have the converter box and pay nothing for t.v. You get informative PBS which is very educational for kids. Our movies come from the library, which also encourages kids to pick up a book, and you can even special order online. We thrift shop. Actually got 6 awesome pairs of name brand jeans today and an Eddie Baur sweater for under $19. Goodwill outlet stores sell by weight/69 cents per pound (close to nothing). One Saturday a month they even have half off that price! DAV and Salvation Army stores are good too. Our rule is we don't go unless we are donating old or unwanted items. Also, if your kids are on Medicaid you can get an access pass to Children's Museum (although we have the standard membership), Connor Prarie, IHS museum, NBA and Eiteljorg for like $1 admission. We have a full garden in the summer and use indy parks pools and programs which is very reduced compared to private lessons or classes, etc (along with our friends and family's pools). Hope this helps some people save some $. I'm going to watch my weekly "House" now and don't feel bad about it : )

We are a family of 5. We keep it pretty simple. I agree with less TV. I do have TV with a basic cable. Two cell phones with minimal service and no contract and two computers. That is the extent of our technology. There are alot of free things or inexpensive things to do in Muncie. Also, I no longer use make up or buy jewlery.

Hey Amanda,
After this one on the 23rd we are going to start a regular show (probably monthly) where we will begin to help anyone who needs an ipad for the communication. If we can help please let me know. I'm going to find a way where people can get on the list to get them.

I'm one of a small handful--Christie's immediate family members--who know the most about why to be thankful for her! She has come to my rescue with her special love and strength and insight, many times. When I first thought about this comment, what came at once to mind was one of the hardest moments in my life when she was with me as a surgeon told me about my wife Nan's breast cancer operation. Nan is now a 27-year survivor. I'm thankful for the way Christie helped me survive emotionally during the first moments of that time.
